WHAT IS ASIEMUT???

In may 2005, we (Olivier Higgins and Mélanie Carrier) chose a journey... Sometimes we call it a long adventure, approximately 8000 kilometers long.  Riding our bicycles & pedaling through Asia.  We traveled from Mongolia to Kolkata, at the mouth of the Ganges in India, passing through Xinjiang, the Taklamakan Desert, Tibet and Nepal

The idea behing this project was to realise our first film and to share, with the images, some of our values and in a way, our vision of life.

BEHIND ASIEMUT

The idea behind Asiemut was to produce a film, which would allow the viewers to think about the basis of our society, more precisely our own role in it. By traveling with us, Melanie and Olivier, on our bikes across Mongolia, China, Tibet and India, the spectator would live our adventure: the adventure of simplicity, the one of two western nomads, sharing their thoughts and values…

A quest for balance, respect, love, friendship, anger, joy of life… The adventure is a medium to talk about various issues, such as culture, traditions, westernImage society, pursuit of happiness…

Equally, Asiemut is not a moral lesson; it rather aims to bring moral awareness. We want to remind viewers to social empowerment they have as citizens of the world. In fact, we want to show that each one of us has the possibility to make and our planet as well as our future a reflection of our own values. In other words, it is possible for every one of us to feel part of this world, each day we live.

** We chose the word Azimut for our project (which is the name for the direction we take with a compass), in which we inserted the destination of Imageour trip- Asia- in order to show our desire to give a direction, a meaning to our film, by sharing not only our personal adventure but also our values and our passion for life.
